Is Assembly Difficult?
The Arrow Carport such as the CPH122007 model (12 ft × 20 ft × 7 ft) is designed to be assembled in a logical sequence from the ground up. Begin by laying out and identifying all of the parts, then choose a level site and mark the footprint. The first step is assembling the rectangular base frame from the side rails, end rails, and connectors, ensuring it is perfectly square by measuring the diagonals. Once the base is complete, install the vertical posts and connect them with the horizontal side beams. Next, assemble the curved roof rafters (arches) on the ground and bolt them to the tops of the posts. Roof braces and purlins are then added between the arches to stiffen the entire structure before any roof panels are installed. At this stage, the frame should be checked for plumb and square, but the bolts should remain slightly loose until everything is aligned.
After the steel frame is complete, the galvanized roof panels are installed starting at one end of the carport and working toward the other, overlapping each panel according to the manual. The supplied sealing tape is applied where specified to reduce water intrusion, and the roof screws are tightened only after each panel is correctly aligned. The final step is anchoring the carport securely to the ground or a concrete slab using the recommended anchors—this is essential for the carport to achieve its rated wind and snow performance. Once anchored, go back and fully tighten every bolt, verify the frame is straight, and inspect all roof fasteners. The manufacturer recommends at least 2–3 people for assembly because of the size of the roof panels and arches, and warns not to attempt installation in windy conditions.
How Long to Assemble?
For the 12 ft wide x 20 ft long x 7 ft high model for example, expect to use over 350 screws, so a cordless drill with a magnetic nut-driver bit will save a tremendous amount of time compared to assembling it entirely by hand. Two or three people can typically assemble the carport in 6–10 hours, depending on experience and site preparation.
