Greenhouse Poly & Covers

Regular price $595.00 $495.00 Sale

We offer various types of made in Canada poly coverings and accessories for your growing projects or our custom made high tunnel greenhouses.  We can provide you with presized rolls of clear UV resistant exterior poly and anti-condensation interior poly coverings. Our poly is ideal for the small backyard greenhouse as well as larger rolls for commercial greenhouses up to 50ft x 200ft. We offer a superior quality Canadian made 7 Layer Film Technology greenhouse poly with proven UV and anti-condensation Thermax performance by local Canadian growers.

How do I calculate the size of the roll of poly I need?
Find the length of a roll by taking the greenhouse height x 2 plus its length.

Greenhouse Frame: 20' wide x 10' high x 60' long example

So 10 high x 2 ends plus 60 feet long greenhouse is 80 feet, which means you need a 100 feet long roll.  Then for the width of the roof, find the greater of the greenhouse height or half of the width (radius) times pie (3.15) rounded up.  So in our example, that means a 32 wide x 100 foot roll for Super 4 UV poly. If you are wanting a double layer greenhouse, we suggest the Thermax for the inside layer due to it's anti-drip properties.

NOTE: We only sell pre-sized rolls as per below, no custom cuts.
We also offer an opaque white/black poly film that can be used for either ground cover or as a reflective blackout curtain for photo period control. The white side is used for reflecting light back to your growing area (90% of all light), while the black side prevents light filtration from the outside.  We provide large custom 12 mm silver/black blackout covers to the size you specify. We also provide Channel Lock and Wiggle Wire to attach your poly to greenhouse frames.

Greenhouse 6 mil poly covering

NOTE: Plastic sheeting is measured in mils. A mil is a measurement that equals one-thousandth of an inch, or 0.001 inch. One mil also equals 0.0254 mm (millimeter).

You can choose from two different kinds of Greenhouse Poly: SUPER4 (6 mil with 4 Year Warranty) and THERMAX (anti-condensation poly). If you need a single layer of Greenhouse Poly, you will likely want to  use SUPER4. If you need a double layer poly, then you will use SUPER4 on the top and THERMAX on the bottom. Some growers will use a double layer is they don’t want any condensation falling on their seedlings and want a higher temperature.

Traditional vs Greenhouse Poly

SUPER4 – Durable and Tough

Dura-Film® Super4™ is a super clear, super tough, long-life product, guaranteed to provide you with the best value in a 6-mil, 4-year greenhouse film. Dura-Film® Super 4™ offers the best value with improved properties over older generations of greenhouse coverings. Superior strength and toughness. Higher light transmission. Guaranteed longer life – 4 years. Folds up to 210% stronger. Tear strength up to 164% higher. Puncture force up to 12% higher. Advanced UV up to 33% longer life.

Benefits:

  • Outstanding light transmission, haze, and clarity ratings help optimize greenhouse yield.
  • A unique manufacturing process results in a Greenhouse Poly with superior tear strength & high strength at folds means higher resistance to punctures.
  • Advanced UV protection.

THERMAX – Durable With Condensation Control

Thermax™Dura-Film  combines outstanding thermal qualities and exceptional condensation control in one revolutionary, diffused greenhouse film. Thermax is also guaranteed to withstand 4 years of UV exposure under normal circumstances.

Benefits:

  • Outstanding thermal properties keep the heat in by reducing radiant heat loss. Heaters cycle less often and consume less energy to maintain a set temperature, a combination that offers potential energy savings of 15-20%.
  • Directional condensation control, controls drips & maintains light transmission & enhances thermal benefit.
  • Diffused light reaches plants from many different angles, optimizing light distribution in all parts of the greenhouse. Diffusion helps protect plants from sunburn. Light is even, not intense.
  • Increased film stiffness makes the film easier to install in greenhouse applications.
  • Research shows that a properly inflated double poly-covered greenhouse can save the grower over 40% in heating costs compared to a single layer of glazing. What is less well known is that using a thermal film as one of the layers can result in an additional 15-20% heating cost saving.

OPAQUE - Black and White Poly

Our Canadian-made Dura-Film® Panda™ 5 mil is a highly reflective, durable, and opaque white/black poly film that can be used for either ground cover or as a reflective blackout curtain for photoperiod control. The white side is used for reflecting light back to your growing area (90% of all light), while the black side prevents light filtration from the outside.

Benefits:

  • Brilliant white layer ensures maximum light reflectivity to aid in crop production.
  • Provides maximum control when used as a blackout curtain for your crops.
  • Reflects heat and cools better than shade cloth.
  • Designed specifically to withstand the wear and tear of either foot traffic or retractable curtain systems.
  • Used in construction and also as an agricultural weed barrier.

Channel Lock & Wiggle Wire

Channel lock and wiggle wire provides an easy way to attach poly to your greenhouse frame without cutting it.  You simple press a fold of poly or other material up to 20 mm thick into the C-channel, and insert the wire over top of it to secure it.  This is great for 2 layer insulated poly applications as well as for creating side vents for your greenhouse.

NOTE: To buy select "Channel Lock & Wiggle Wire" and "6 Foot Length" and Add to Cart.  Then in your cart, increase the quantity of 6 foot lengths you need.
