Add real estate value to your home and enhance your outdoor living or storage space with our high snow load capable Grizzly Shelter Ltd. powder-coated steel truss awnings and carports. Our custom manufactured (in Canada) structurally welded CSA approved trusses are perfect for homeowners seeking a stylish and durable solution for patio awnings, carports, or pole barns. Their high strength comes from a combination of 2" and 1" square steel framing and heavy duty steel plate connections.
Our steel trusses allow you to easily create a shaded area for entertainment or relaxation, or a robust carport or awning with up to a 95+ lbs per square foot estimated snow load to protect vehicles. These trusses can also work well for covering larger areas as pole barns for farming, feed storage, animals and livestock. They can be great for outdoor recreation, events or just a covered work area to fix up boats, cars or more, the sky is the limit!
We provide the powder coated steel trusses in the colour of your choice to match your home or existing roofing or exterior siding etc.. We can also quote you on customizing the length of trusses to suit your needs for covering a deck or patio. We assemble, weld, paint and ship trusses from Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa regions currently, but are always adding locations.

NOTE: You will need to provide your own wood 6x6 posts and 2x6 beams, steel or polycarbonate roofing as well as fasteners locally (supply list is below).
High Snow Load Version (up to 95 lbs per sqr ft)
Lower Snow Load Version Below (up to 50 lbs per sqr ft)
TIP: We can customize the powder coated steel truss colour to match your house.
Our trusses are ideal for constructing a single-sloped (4/12 or 18 degree slope angle) pent roof awning, ranging from 8 to 12 feet in depth. To ensure stability, especially in snowy regions, we recommend a maximum truss spacing of 8 feet apart for supporting up to 95 lbs per square foot of snow load. For vehicle protection, use the trusses to create a 12-foot wide carport. Alternatively, join two trusses for a 24-foot wide peaked covering, suitable for two vehicles, with a 10-foot connecting bar provided.

Please note, our kit includes only the steel trusses and powder-coated post boots. You will need to provide additional materials, specifically:
Lumber Required
- 2x4 or 2x6 (recommended for high snow loads) wood beams/purlins for roof
- 6' x 6' wood posts (actual dimensions around 5 1/2" x 5 1/2") for a solid base.
Choose Your Own Roofing
Add your own roofing to match the look and feel of your house. Popular options that you can find at your local hardware store include:
- polycarbonate 10 mm twin wall sheets (e.g. Piedmont Plastics)
- steel 26 to 29 gauge steel (e.g. Westman or VicWest)
NOTE: Steel post boots are sized to receive 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" dimensional posts. We suggest you thin/plane down only boot section of post so that the wood above the boot overhangs slightly to prevent moisture entering. Caulking around the top of the post boots is recommended. There is also a water drain hole just in case at center bottom of all boots.
